Dr. Ilayda Altuntas's research, teaching, and art practice center on listening, sensory pedagogies, and community-based art education. With over a decade of experience organizing and programming art school initiatives, she has worked with diverse learners to explore creativity through sound, identity, and place-based education. Dr. Altuntas developed the Sounding Art Practice as Research (SAPAR) methodology, which uses sound as a medium to present the socio-cultural experiences of places.
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Ilayda Altuntas Nott, Art and Visual Culture Education students immersed themselves in a computational art-making, sensory-based learning experience — emphasizing the arts in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) practices.
